A 36-year-old man was arrested by members of the Las Piñas police Pamplona Substation while in the act of cutting aerial cable wire on Friday, April 21.

Col. Jaime Santos, city police chief, identified the suspect as Tristan Gempis and his companion as a certain Tayman who was able to elude arrest.

Investigation showed the suspect was arrested at around 12:15 a.m. along Apitong St., Manuela 4E Subdivision, Barangay Pamplona, Las  Piñas.

Santos said members of the Pamplona substation were conducting a police patrol when they spotted the suspects in the act of cutting the Globe Telecom aerial cable wire.

He said operatives from the Pamplona substation were able to recover from Gempis about 2.5 meters of cable wire worth P45,209, a hacksaw blade, and long nose pliers.

Gempis was immediately brought to the Las Piñas police headquarters and charges of theft are being readied against him.
