Bangko Senrtral ng Pilipinas  (BSP) officials and Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez led the launching of the PalengQR Ph Plus in the city on Thursday, April 20.
Olivarez said the BSP team, led by Ellen Ramos of the BSP financial inclusion office, introduced and proposed the launching of the project in the city.
Olivarez said the PalengQR PH Plus is a project of the BSP which aims to promote digital payments in public markets, tricycle hubs, and other establishments.
He also said the project also aims to promote financial literacy in Parañaque's communities, particularly among market vendors and consumers, tricycle operators, and drivers, and their passengers.
The program also targets to achieve the universal account ownership of the city in delivering effective government services to those in the vulnerable sectors.
Olivarez said it will also strengthen the e-governance system and will speed up the processing and transaction of services being offered by the city government.
Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) chief Atty. Melanie Soriano- Malaya, City Administrator Atty. Voltaire dela Cruz, Public Information Office officer-in-charge Catalino Alano Jr., Information Technology Development Department Head Atty. Mark Espinosa, Consumer Welfare Office officer-in-charge Millan Alcaraz, and representatives from the Market Division also attended the presentation conducted by the BSP.
