Marikina LGU distributes tax relief certificates to carinderia, sari-sari store owners
The Marikina City local government on Wednesday, April 19, distributed tax relief certificates to several "carinderias" or small eateries and sari-sari store owners in the city.
Marikina City Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro led the event together with Marikina City 1st District Representative Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro. Qualified sari-sari store and carinderia owners in barangays San Roque, Kalumpang, Sta. Elena, Barangka, IVC, J. dela Peña, Tañong, Sto. Niño, Malanday, Tumana, and Concepcion Uno, received the said certificates.
Teodoro underscored the need for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to be given support in recovering from the adverse economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and high inflation.
The business permit and business tax exemption certificates is the continuation of the city's City Ordinance No. 199 Series of 2022 or the Ordinance Providing for Full Business Permit and Business Tax Exemption for Sari-Sari Stores and Carinderias in Marikina City for the Tax Year 2023.
Teodoro had earlier approved the ordinance exempting sari-sari store and carinderia owners from paying their business permits and business tax for the year 2023.
Qualified sari-sari stores and carinderias include:
\- Those that have a start\-up capital not exceeding P10\,000
\- Those that have a yearly earning of not more than P180\,000
\- Those that are not selling cigarettes and liquor
"Dahil dama ng Ama ng Lungsod ang mga pinansyal na hamon sa mga maliliit na naghahanap-buhay, ipinagpapatuloy ang pagpapatupad ng exemption sa mga kwalipikadong sari-sari store at carinderia sa Lungsod ng Marikina (Because the father of the city is aware of the financial hardships being experienced by small businesses, the city government is continuing the tax relief exemption to qualified sari-sari store and carinderia owners in the city of Marikina)," the city government said.
