PBBM's wish: Filipinos won't need gov't help anymore

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. revealed that his wish was for Filipinos to no longer need the assistance of the government as they already had what they needed to survive. Marcos said this as he [led the distribution of various government aid to beneficiaries](https://mb.com.ph/2023/3/31/marcos-brings-kadiwa-to-bataan-distributes-aid-to-limay-residents) in Limay, Bataan, last week. "Sana naman ay darating na tayo sa sitwasyon na lahat kayo ay may hanapbuhay na, may [pinagkakakitaan] (I hope we'll arrive at the time when all of you have livelihoods)," he said. "Sasabihin na ninyo sa amin hindi na namin kailangan ‘yan [tulong] dahil mayroon na kaming [pinagkakakitaaan], mayroon na kaming hanapbuhay. Iyan po ang hangarin natin (Then you'll tell us that you no longer need our assistance because you have a livelihood. That's our dream)," he added. According to the President, he promised this during the 2022 elections. "Ito po ay ang ating pinag-uusapan noong halalan. Ito na ang pagkakataon natin para gawing totoo ang pangarap natin para sa Pilipinas (We talked about this during the elections. This is our opportunity to fulfill our dream for the Philippines)," he said. But until then, Marcos said the government would be committed to ensuring that no Filipino would be left behind on the road to progress. "Asahan niyo po na ang inyong pamahalaan hindi kayo nakakalimutan (Expect that your government will not forget you)," he ensured. "Basta’t sinabi ninyo [na] kayo ay nangangailangan eh tuloy-tuloy pa rin po ang aming ibibigay na tulong (As long as you tell us that you need something, we'll continue to assist you)," he added. President Marcos likewise thanked those who voted for him in the 2022 elections, saying he would pay them back by working tirelessly to improve the lives of Filipinos.
