It was a long time ago, but actors JM De Guzman and Cindy Miranda admitted that in the past they were crazy about love.

During the media conference for their upcoming movie, "Adik Sa'Yo '' produced by Viva Films held at Boteyju Japanese Restaurant in Quezon City last April 1, JM and Cindy became a little emotional when they remembered their personal experiences of those days when they were madly in love.

"Literal hinabol ko talaga yung lalaki because of love. Medyo bata pa po ako nun. Hinabol ko po. Iiwanan ka eh. Hinabol ko po," said Cindy, who admitted she had been rejected for love several times. "Ang saklap. Pagdating talaga sa pag-ibig walang pinipili. Maganda ka, gwapo ka, ano ka man, palagi kang masasaktan."

(I literally chased the man because of love. I was still young. I chased him because he was leaving. When it comes to love, there are no exemptions. You are beautiful, and handsome, whatever you are, you will always be hurt.)

"Nabubuhay naman ako sa tunay na realidad. Maraming mas maganda sa'yo. Maraming mas talented sa'yo. Maraming mas may 'k' sa'yo. Palagi kang papalitan at papalitan. Pero palagi kong sinasabi sa sarili ko kahit na iwanan ako ng iwanan, stick lang ako sa sarili ko," said the 32-year-old former beauty queen.

(I live in the real world. And they are much more beautiful and talented than you. And you will always be replaced. But I always tell myself even if they leave me, I just stick to myself.)

Asked about her reaction when she finally saw the new girl of her boyfriend, Cindy said: "Siyempre masakit. Masakit po. Hahanapin mo kasi yung mali sa sarili mo kahit na ayaw mo pa rin ikumpara yung sarili mo sa ibang tao. Ano yung meron siya na wala ako? But I realized. Hindi ako ang may fault. Feeling ko God's plan ito. After that you will meet someone better. Someone who can make you happier and make you laugh. So later, sasabihin ko kaya naman pala kami naghiwalay kasi may darating na mas mabuti. I'm not heartbroken. It's just that pagbinabalikan ko po, it's just painful pero I'm glad na wala na ako sa relasyon na yun. I'm happy kung nasaan man ako ngayon."

(Of course, it hurts. You will find the wrong in yourself even if you still don't want to compare yourself to other people. What does she have that I don't have? But I realized it's not my fault. I feel it's God's plan. After that, you will meet someone better. Someone who can make you happier and make you laugh. Then I will just say that we broke up because something better will come. I'm not heartbroken. It's just that when I look back, it's just painful. But I'm glad I'm no longer in that relationship. I'm happy wherever I am now.)

JM also said that he also fell in love madly and deeply. "Nabuwang ako (pagdating sa pag-ibig). Nabuwang na rin ako sa pag-ibig."

When asked about the identity of the girl, JM answered: "Secret."

So sobrang sakit, nag-self destruct ako. Parang yun ang naging tendencies ko bilang isang lover. I tend to hurt myself, to destroy myself, to destroy my career. Lahat ng mahawakan ng kamay ko sisirain ko. Hindi ako nananakit ng ibang tao sarili ko lang."

The winning actor has realized the consequences of being madly in love.

"Hindi na ako nabibigyan ng work, na-rehabilitate ako, natanggal lahat ng priveleges ko like yung mga simpleng cell phone or ilang years wala kaming TV. Doon ko narealize na mga simpleng bagay na kailangan ko ma-appreciate. What more yung mga blessings na sinayang ko raw," JM also said.

JM, 34, admitted to having regrets about his previous relations. "Pero hangga't nabibigyan ako ng pagkakataon bumabawi naman ako."

Describing his life these days, JM said: "Patuloy pa rin ang buhay. Marami pa ring challenges. Hindi nag-stop yung mga challenges na dumarating. I just have to face it every day. I just need to be wiser and stronger."

'Adik Sa 'Yo'

To be addicted to anything is a bad habit. May it be substance abuse, material things, vices, or money - anything too much is never good. But much worse than being addicted to something, it is being addicted to someone. Being too much into a person may give you happiness more than any other drug or material possession could, but it will also break you in ways more than addiction could destroy a person.

Discover the meaning of love and know why it can be so addicting. Adik Sa ‘Yo premieres in cinemas nationwide this April 19.

Meet Paulo (JM De Guzman), a drug addict in and out of rehab for years, and meet Joy (Cindy Miranda), the woman addicted to Paulo.
