DPWH-Caraga reactivates ‘Lakbay-Alalay’ for Holy Week

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Region 13 (Cagara) has reactivated its “Lakbay Alalay” motorist assistance program this Holy Week.

“Kailangan ay nasa kalye at mga kalsada tayo (We must be on the streets) to assist motorists and commuters ,” DPWH-Region 13 Director Engr. Pol M. delos Santos  directed all district engineering offices (DEOs) in the region.

Uniformed MATs will provide personal and prompt assistance for normal and emergency situations in strategic locations on major thoroughfares round-the-clock in Caraga.

"They were directed to coordinate with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine National Police (PNP), local government units (LGUs), and other government agencies for any assistance that may be required,” Delos Santos added.

DPWH maintenance teams had been deployed before the Holy Week all over the region to ensure that national roads are well-maintained and free from potholes, have reflectorized pavement markings, and have legible kilometer posts and directional signs.

Roads with on-going construction works had been checked to ensure that proper warning signs are installed.

Maintenance engineers installed traffic advisories with alternate routes to bypass areas that have ongoing projects, Delos Santos added.
