Western Visayas' most wanted falls in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY – Police nabbed the most wanted person in Western Visayas in Estancia, Iloilo. The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) identified the suspect as Estancia resident Renante A. Cañeso. The 52-year-old fisherman and engine mechanic was caught in a joint operation by several units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday morning, April 19. Police Col. Ronald Palomo, IPPO director, lauded the joint operation that caught Cañeso who allegedly raped a woman in San Dionisio, Iloilo last July. Palomo lauded the Estancia Municipal Police Station headed by Police Capt. Arniel Buraga for leading the operation. The Estancia police was backed by the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Iloilo as well as the intelligence units of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 and IPPO and the San Dionisio Municipal Police Station. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Estancia also backed the operation. Cañeso was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Jose E. Gomez of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 71 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo last March 15.
