TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Trainees from the Police Regional Office-2 have started a five-day water search and rescue (WASAR) training at Anguib Resort in Barangay Anguib, Santa Ana, Cagayan.
This training for PNP-Basic Internal Security Operation Course (PNP-BISOC) trainees was provided by Coast Guard District Northeastern Luzon.
The April 17 to 21 training is under the supervision of the Special Operations Unit- Northeastern Luzon (SOU-NELZN).
PRO-2 Deputy Regional Director for Administration Police Col. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado graced the opening ceremony followed by the traditional reception rites.
Aside from strenuous exercises, trainees will undergo various lectures and actual demonstrations of water evolutions such as water survival and life-saving techniques, fundamental swimming techniques, rubber boat carrying and handling, and rubber boat capsizing and recovery, with a one-mile swim as the highlight of the training.
The training's primary goal is to ensure and produce more competent rescuers, particularly in responding to any water-related incidents or disasters where appropriate life-saving techniques are deemed necessary.
