Hann Resorts has announced the development of the second in its trio of world-class designer golf courses that will be located inside the master planned 450-hectare Hann Reserve luxury integrated resort development in New Clark City, Tarlac. This is an 18-hole valley course that is designed by acclaimed South Korean professional golfer KJ Choi, one of the most recognized and successful golfers in Asia today. As with Choi’s other signature golf courses around the world, players can expect a challenging but enjoyable and rewarding course that is designed with utmost attention to detail, working with the unique layout of the land, and highlighting the location’s natural strengths and features.  “It is my pleasure to be a part of this landmark integrated resort development in the Philippines and to offer a memorable golfing experience for Filipino golf enthusiasts and visiting players alike,” said Choi during the media launch of this development project held last April 14, 2023 at the Marriott Hotel in New Clark City. “This project should be eco-friendly and user friendly even for female golfers.”  Project site visit

Protecting the environment

Hann Reserve considers itself as the first of its kind in Clark as an integrated leisure lifestyle development with a unique golf resort concept, designed to be the most luxurious and preeminent in the region. It is complemented with the sought-after international luxury hotel brands Banyan Tree and Angsana Resort, Sofitel and Emblems by Accor, and The Luxury Collection and Westin by Marriott International.  It is no secret, however, that property development projects have a direct impact on the environment, and that is why Hann Reserve is making sure to strike a balance between development and protecting nature. Some of its sustainability efforts are the water recycling program and the use of indigenous materials in building the property.  “This project costs almost double compared to other regular golf courses. Why? We are spending money to adopt this high technology and to adopt whatever necessary means to protect nature,” said Dae Sik Han, chair of the Hann group of companies. “The grass that we're using is something like almost 20 times more expensive than the very common Bermuda grass. This grass can contribute back to nature by consuming a very small amount of water. We will also utilize local trees and shrubs.”  Apart from this, Han also said that they are using technology in developing the irrigation system, one that is connected to satellites to make sure the right amount of water will be used in keeping the greeneries.  Choi’s valley course is part of the second phase of development of Hann Reserve, the initial components of which is targeted for completion by 2027. Back in November 2022, the company also announced its third golf course project — a river course designed by legendary former world number one golfer Sir Nick Faldo. It is slated for completion in the latter part of the second phase by 2028. Meanwhile, the first golf course is a mountain course by world-renowned Nicklaus Design, which forms part of the first phase targeted for completion by 2026 along with a clubhouse and Banyan Tree hotel and residences. Apart from the designer golf courses, the master plan also includes the first Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA)-affiliated player development facilities in the Philippines. The entire Hann Reserve development cost is approximately US$ 3 billion, with its first phase already underway with an initial cost of P9 billion.
