Comelec set to print 1.6 million more BSKE ballots next month

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to print an additional 1.6 million ballots next month that will be used for the conduct of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in October. “Itong darating na Mayo, i-imprinta natin ang dagdag na 1.6 million na balota. Ito ay nag re-representa sa dagdag na mga botante mula Dec. 12 to Jan. 30 (This coming May, we are going to print 1.6 million additional ballots. This represents the additional registered voters from the period of  Dec. 12 to Jan. 30),” said Comelec Chairman George Garcia in an interview. Last March, the poll body announced that it already finished  the printing of 90,613,426 official ballots for the BSKE. Garcia said that they are also now preparing for the training of those who will serve as members of the electoral boards (EBs). “Yung training ng ating mga guro, ating mga EB  gagawin natin yan ngayong buwan ng Agosto (The training of our teachers, our EBs, we will do that in  August),” he said. Comelec has also started packing the different election paraphernalia for the BSKE, said Garcia. “Halos 100 percent na prepared na kami— ang Commission on Elections  (The Commission on Elections is almost 100 percent prepared),” he said. To note, the BSKE is scheduled to be held on Oct. 30.
