Calabarzon has a new top cop

The Police Regional Office 4A (PRO4a) has a new top cop following another reshuffle that was approved by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. Police Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces was named as the new regional director of the PRO4A, replacing Police Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. who was designated as the new head of the Directorate for Comptrollership. The PRO4A covers the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (Calabarzon). It is considered as one of the coveted posts in the PNP. Nartatez replaced Police Maj. Gen. Jesus Cambay who reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 on Wednesday, April 19. Replacing Gaces as the deputy regional director of Police Regional Office 1 in Ilocos Region is Police Col. Antonio Marallag, Jr.  The reshuffle involving the three senior PNP officials took effect on Tuesday, April 18.
