"I hope that it will be of some help to children who are suffering, and I will support them so that they can smile healthily," said Jungkook. Choi Eun-hwa, director of Seoul National University Children's Hospital, said,”Taking care of a child’s health is like determining the child’s entire life, so sponsorship is an investment in the future and hope, as well as providing relief and peace to tired families.” The hospital explained that children with severe and rare incurable diseases, childhood cancer, and leukemia from all over South Korea are being treated at the facility. During the course of treatment, the patient and his or her family are exhausted physically and mentally from countless treatments and surgeries, and are placed in a state of isolation due to a long hospitalization. In particular, for children who have to achieve various tasks according to the developmental stage, the gap in the treatment period affects the child's future, making it difficult to grow into a full member of society, the hospital added. In order to overcome this, the Seoul National University Children's Hospital operates an integrated care center and strives to realize integrated care that helps not only patients with diseases but also holistic recovery and families. The Integrated Care Center provides subject learning and education, counseling, emotional treatment and support activities, events, and various healing and special activity programs for children and their families , and actively supports exchanges with volunteers. In addition, through the pediatric palliative care service, it resolves difficulties throughout the treatment process and improves the quality of life, while providing a pediatric home medical service where medical staff visits and manages homes in need. However, from the standpoint of the children's hospital, which is already running a deficit, the integrated care center projects are receiving some subsidies, but it is difficult to maintain without support, it said. In addition, although the birth rate has decreased, the survival rate of premature babies and the recovery rate of severe and rare incurable diseases, childhood cancer and leukemia have improved, increasing the importance of returning to society after treatment, and the number of children who need services is increasing.
