CEBU CITY – A native of Dapitan City topped the recent licensure examination for midwives.
Ronnie Vincent Bolasco Antivo, a graduate of the Jose Rizal Memorial State University-Dapitan, scored the highest passing rate of 90.05 percent in the exams.
It was another feather on Antivo’s cap as he also finished in the Top 10 when he took the licensure examination for nurses in 2014.
Messages of congratulations poured in after Antivo’s recent feat.
“He was a 4th placer when he took the Nurses Board and now Top 1 in the Midwifery Board exam! Our congratulations!” said Apple Marie Agolong, tourism officer of Dapitan.
Arianne Jean Ariño Blaza of Camarines Sur Polytechnic College ranked second with a passing rate of 89.65 percent.
Coming in at third was Honeylou Oponda Rebolos of Capitol University (formerly Cagayan Capitol College) with 89.25 percent passing rate.
Antivo’s sister, Rosie Jeanne, said they did not expect that her brother would top last April’s examination as Ronnie fell ill during the exam.
Roise Jeanne shared that Ronnie’s blood pressure had to be checked. While taking the exam, he suffered an illness called in Visayan as “gikabuhi.”
Gikabuhi is an illness characterized by dizziness, nausea, chills, and symptoms similar to hyperacidity, gripes, heartburn, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
“So proud of you Kuy! God is good!” said Rosie Jeanne.
