Find out the whole truth, Mr. President. This, in a nutshell, was Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep. Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr.'s appeal to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. Monday, April 17, during a virtual press briefing. Teves is currently out of the country and refuses to come home for fear of his life. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has tagged him as the mastermind in the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo last March 4. "Alamin lang niya yung buong katotohanan, ano yung puno't dulo nito (He should find out the whole truth, what the root cause is)," Teves said, referring to the President. "Because this started way before eh [the assassination]. This started--ito lahat operation laban sa akin (All these operations against me), started way before," the suspended congressman said. "So this is not about yung pangyayari sa aming probinsya dahil bago pa nun, nanawagan na ako eh. So hindi pwedeng yun yung puno't dulo dahil dati pa, nanawagan na ako (So this is not about what happened in our province because I already made an appeal before that. So that cannot be the root cause because I made an appeal way before that)," explained Teves. Governor Degamo was gunned down outside his home in Pamplona town, Negros Oriental. Marcos has appealed to Teves to return to the country and has even assured his safety. He said that that root cause of the issue was the Degamo killing, which the Visayas solon disagrees with. It was January this year when Teves claimed that Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos was "taking it personally" against him. He has complained of alleged harassment from members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), which is overseen by the DILG. "Kaya gusto ko sana mapag-aralan ni Mr. President kung ano talaga, tignan naman niya mga tauhan niya, ano yung mga galaw, kung ano yung mga balak, ano yung mga ambisyon, ano yung mga bagay-bagay na ginagawa ng tauhan niya. Yun lang naman (That's why I hope Mr. President would be able to study what's really happening, to look into his subordinates, their moves, their plans, their ambitions, and what they are doing . That is all)," Teves said.
