Suspect in ambush-slay of Aparri Vice Mayor Alameda charged


CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City – One of the suspects in the ambush-slay of Aparri, Cagayan Vice Mayor Rommel G. Alameda and five other victims was charged at the Provincial Prosecution Office in the province of Nueva Vizcaya.

Report said that six counts of murder, obstruction of justice, and violation of Republic Act 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act) were filed against alias “Bong,” a resident of Barangay Luna, Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija.

The authorities revealed that alias Bong is the real owner of the white Mitsubishi Adventure that served as the getaway vehicle of the suspects.

“Ito rin ang itinuturong nasa likod ng pagsunog sa nasabing sasakyan na natagpuan sa Agrarian Reform Community Road, Barangay Uddiawan, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya isang araw matapos ang naganap na pananambang (He is also being alleged as behind the burning of said vehicle found at the Agrarian Reform Community Road, Barangay Uddiawan, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya a day after the ambush),” police said.

The PRO-2 is optimistic that alias Bong will soon reveal the identity of other perpetrators in the ambush of the Aparri vice mayor.

Vice Mayor Alameda with five other individuals were ambushed in Purok 5, Sitio Kinakao, Baretbet, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya on Feb. 19.

The other victims in the ambush were Alexander Agustin delos Angeles, 47; Alvin dela Cruz Abel, 48, and Abraham dela Cruz Ramos Jr., 48, both residents of Minanga, Aparri, John Duane Banag Almeda, 46, resident of Centro, Aparri, and Ismael Nanay Tumaru from Maura, Aparri.
