The City of Manila's Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) and Parks Development Office conducted simultaneous clean-up operations in the city on Tuesday, April 18. The city government said the DEPW continued cleaning and unclogging drainages in Sta. Cruz. It also assigned personnel to renovate the street manholes and catch basins at Baltazar and Amarlanhagui Streets in Barangay 88 Zone 7, Tondo. Dump trucks were also deployed to haul sacks of garbage from city barangays. "Walang tigil din ang declogging operation sa lahat ng mga canal para sa mas mabilis na daloy ng waste water. Sinisikap ng DEPW na matapos ito bago sumapit ang tag-ulan sa buwan ng Hunyo (We continue declogging canals for faster flow of waste water. DEPW is trying to get it done before the rainy season hits in the month of June)," it said, Meanwhile, Parks Development Office also held simultaneous clean-up activities in the city parks, including  Anda Circle, Recto Avenue and Bonifacio Drive Center Islands, Arroceros Forest Park, Plaza Rueda and Morga, and Rizal Avenue, and J. Abad Santos Avenue. It also conducted plant watering and weeding operations. Trees that were blocking portions of the roads were also trimmed. The staffs water, nurture the plants and pick up the trash in the areas every day)," it said, The city government advised the public to avoid littering in public places, follow proper disposal of garbage, and respect the city parks, gardens, and monuments of the heroes. It also thanked the members of both departments for their effort and dedication in cleaning the streets of Manila.
