Laguna farmers receive agricultural machinery and equipment

LAGUNA â€“ The provincial government turned over agricultural machinery and equipment to 30 farmer cooperatives and associations at the Laguna Provincial Capitol in Sta. Cruz on Monday, April 17. The distribution was made possible through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) mechanization program of the Department of Agriculture â€“ Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech). In coordination with the Field Agricultural Extension Services-Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, farmer groups received nine trailers, nine harvester machines with accessories, and nine open-source pumps. Gov. Ramil Hernandez led the distribution ceremony, along with Vice Gov. Karen Agapay, and PhilMech Director Dionisio Alvindia. Also in attendance were 2nd District Rep. Ruth Mariano-Hernandez, 4th District Rep. Jamina Agarao, Calamba Lone District Rep. Cha Hernandez Alcantara, and other local officials. In 2022, PhilMech distributed 121 units of farming equipment in Laguna, valued at P64.7 million.
