The Caloocan City government on Monday, April 17, conducted free chest x-ray for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Caloocan City Jail as part of the city government’s efforts to fight tuberculosis (TB).
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said that one of his administration’s priorities is health which is a fundamental human right and necessity.
We are aware that the possibility of infection is higher in places where there are many people, so to prevent this, we will continue to make sure that our PDLs are healthy and free from disease, for the sake of their safety),“ he said.

City Health Department Head Dr. Evelyn Cuevas said that ongoing free chest x-ray, consultation, and treatment against tuberculosis are being offered to city residents, including PDLs in order to ensure their health and safety from highly contagious diseases. Hangad po natin na maipadama sa lahat ang ating pagkalinga at pagmamalasakit (As I always say, in Caloocan no one will be left behind, that's why we are trying to provide the needs of our people, even the PDLs. We wish to make everyone feel our care and concern),” the mayor said. The free chest x-ray activity for the PDLs will be held until the end of the week, the city government said.
