A big tree inside a supermarket in Batangas City is gaining traction among shoppers because it is making the place more alive and connected with nature.
Since its establishment in 1986, Citimart has become one of the landmarks in Batangas City, Batangas, that saw the urban area's rapid development throughout its 37 years of existence. Since then, the chain has already established three stores in Batangas City, one of which is situated in Caedo Plaza, Calicanto, Batangas City.
What makes the Citimart Caedo Plaza unique is that there’s a huge Acacia tree growing inside the supermarket, connecting shoppers and visitors alike to nature. According to the supermarket, since it was established in 1995, the supermarket let the tree continue growing and instead built a glass structure for visitors to see the tree clearly, as posted by a social media user. She even connected it with the ancient Egyptian belief of the Acacia tree being a “tree of life.”

Integrating, instead of removing, the elements of nature in human structures brings some relief from the concrete world and connection with the environment, which is indeed the primary source of raw materials and food.
