Over 60 former drug users complete Navotas rehab program
Some 64 people who used drugs (PWUDs) graduated from the rehabilitation program of the Navotas City local government on Monday, April 17.
Bidahan, a community-based drug rehabilitation program (CBDRP), conducted a year-long treatment procedure for PWUDs that included a six-month aftercare after the intensive therapy
Bidahan patients underwent a series of weekly psychoeducation lectures, counseling sessions, group therapy sessions, relapse prevention sessions, and life skills training.
They also underwent random drug testing as part of the program.
Navotas City Mayor John Reynald "John Rey" Tiangco commended the participants for their determination to overcome drug addiction.
“Participating in Bidahan is just the beginning of the long and arduous process of healing and recovery,” he said.
“We hope that with the care and support of their family, loved ones, and the whole Navoteño community, our PWUDs will be able to lead better lives and continue to avoid vices that bring harm, not only to themselves but also their loved ones,” he added.
He said that the immediate response from Navotas police to apprehend violators of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 has also contributed to the success of the campaign.
The city government said it will continue its efforts to further strengthen its anti-illegal drugs campaign through its continuous buy-bust operations and rehab programs.
As of March 2023, around 284 PWUDs graduated from the city rehab programs.
