Police said a tricycle driver found a plastic containing the severed right hand of an unidentified person and a paper with the name of a policeman linked to illegal drugs as "pusher” and “protector.” The police officer was also accused of engaging in cockfighting and robbery-holdup. Police Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of the Bacolod City police, said they will thoroughly investigate the incident to identify the owner and determine the persons behind this. Gabana said the policeman mentioned in the paper is assigned to the Police Station 5 here who will also be investigated. He said this is the third incident involving mutilated human body parts reported this year here. The first was in January when two severed hands, along with a list of alleged drug personalities, were found dumped in a garbage area in Barangay 2. Two months later, a pair of severed feet were discovered in front of an establishment on C.L. Montelibano St., Barangay Villamonte. Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez here said these cases are alarming and the public needs to see the results of the investigation. Police Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, Bacolod police director, is set to retire from the police service next month. Benitez said that he sent a text message to Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. to expedite the selection of a police chief here.
