Mayor Sandoval seeks to empower 35 orphans in Malabon
Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval on Sunday, April 16, said that she has been taking steps to empower children in an orphanage in Barangay Longos, Malabon City.
“The greatest success is to see one’s child grow up to be a healthy, strong, thriving adult. I look forward to see that day with our children here at Bahay Sandigan,” the mayor said.
Bahay Sandigan, an orphanage for children under the local government of Malabon, serves as a home to 35 vulnerable children who have either been orphaned or are in need of a safe place to stay away from their families.
“We go beyond just providing the basic needs of our children. We are here to empower them to live up to their full potential," said Lorelie Soriano, head of Malabon’s City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD).
Meanwhile, the city government said that city nutritionists follow a weekly meal plan to ensure that the children have a balanced nutritious diet.
Dental and medical check-ups are also regularly scheduled every third Wednesday of the month.
"From the time Mayor Jeannie took office in Malabon, she has been taking steps to look after each child’s individual needs, taking the role of a parent. No stone is left unturned when it comes to the children’s welfare," the city government said.
"You can sense that Bahay Sandigan is a place of joy for the children. Their smile is that of a happy child who belongs to a family. Mayor Jeannie has made it possible for the children to have happy memories," it added.
