RLC Residences and the frontier of progress

While the Robinsons Land Corporation’s Residential Division can look back on three decades of improving the lives of Filipinos, and being sensitive about emerging residential trends such as digital lifestyles, and strengthening work-life balance; RLC Residences is a relatively new brand, as it was formed to integrate Robinsons Luxuria, Robinsons Residences, and Robinsons Communities.
But give credit where credit is due, for under its tagline of ‘Raise, Live, Connect’, RLC Residences has been one of the more aggressive, cost-efficient, and innovative real-estate players over the last three years - it’s impressive progress duly noted by such industry award-giving bodies as DOT Property, Property Guru (named RLC Residences the Best Developer in the Philippines Property Awards 2022), and the Lamudi Outlook Awards.

The developer’s newest premium development is located in Cebu; specifically on Ouano Avenue, where Cebu City and Mandaue City intersect. A grand launch to celebrate the Mantawi Residences was held April 14, 2023, at the NUSTAR Resort and Casino. Graced by the presence of RLC Residences Brand Ambassador Heart Evangelista, the event proved to be a star-studded eye-opener for the big plans RLC Residences has in store for Cebu, and there’s some poetry in that.
Poetic because RLC’s late founder, John Gokongwei, Jr., grew up in Cebu with his family, and it’s where he built up and established the strong foundation of the formidable Gokongwei Group that we see today. Mr. John would allude to Cebu as the place where he learned his values in life, and realized what progress would mean to him.

John Richard Sotelo, RLC Residences Senior Vice-President and Business Unit General Manager, was pleased to remind us of this connection, “We are happy to come back here in Cebu with another promising project that is Mantawi Residences. We are very proud to finally unveil this development that we envisioned for our future residents who are on the lookout for a home and investment that they can proudly call theirs. We at RLC Residences feel that Mantawi Residences is a project that best represents Mr. John’s vision, which is to continuously search for opportunities and move successfully in life. That’s why we designed this condo development with unique and high-quality features that can support our future residents’ quest for success.”
This theme of re-establishing roots was echoed by Senior Director Marketing Head and Chief Integration Officer Karen Cesario, and by Assistant Vice-President and Business Development and Design Head Stephanie Anne Go. The overriding strategy is to explore multiple opportunities, developing condominiums in strategic locations, and empowering people to live their best lives.

The Mantawi Residences is near academic institutions, shopping destinations, and hospitals. It will comprise of four towers of forty floors each; and deserving special mention are the exclusive and spacious penthouse units with multiple loggias where homeowners can appreciate the city skyline of Cebu. There are one-, two-, and three-bedroom units with upgraded home furnishings, and with floor areas that are generously spaced.
If there’s one landmark feature for The Mantawi Residences, it would have to be the 1.3 hectare amenity area, where hyper-sized and above-standard facilities are planned. A variety of landscaped areas, beach-inspired swimming pools, a cascading waterfall, a pet park, and an outdoor play area are just some of the Mantawi amenities that will make this development such a game-changer, and truly stand as a ‘frontier of progress’. A curated retail experience, to be located on the ground floor, and featuring several global brands, will also be part of the game plan for Mantawi Residences.
I’m ready to stand corrected, but was told ‘Mantawi’ refers to an aromatic tree species, and that there’s a Mantawi Festival held annually in Mandaue. I liked the connection to a tree, as like we mentioned, the development has an aspect of returning to Mr. Gokongwei’s roots; and the Festival reference is similarly appropriate, as the Residences will stand as a celebration of possibility, and emblematic of RLC’s own frontier of progress.
