Killed were Leonardo Lagada, 60, and his live-in partner Miguela Hedorio. Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Toboso police chief, said that three persons armed with long firearms stormed the couple’s house and shot them at close range. Batadlan said they cannot yet tell if the incident was insurgency-related. He, however, said that Lagada was a force multiplier, based on his identification card (ID). Batadlan said that Lagada was also a father of an incumbent barangay official. On April 6, military troopers clashed with New People’s Army (NPA) rebels at Sitio Seraje in the Barangay San Isidro that injured one soldier. However, Batadlan said that the encounter site is far from the area where the couple was killed.
