INFANTA, Quezon – Four persons were injured when the commuter van they were riding in turned to its side while negotiating a curved and descending part of the highway in Barangay Magsaysay, this town, on Saturday morning, April 15.
Police identified the injured as Rodney Vergara, 28; John and Marilyn Cruz, 32, and Miriam Berezo, 52. They were taken to the Claro M. Recto District Memorial Hospital by the Infanta Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.
Twenty-seven other passengers sustained minor abrasions and bruises.
Investigation said the driver of the van, Danilo de Guzman, 68, of Barangay 129, Barrio San Jose Binagan, Caloocan City, lost control of the vehicle while traversing a descending and curved portion of the highway.
The van turned to its right side and slid on the road, police said.
De Guzman was transporting residents of Sitio Matibagan, Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City to a picnic in Real, Quezon when the accident happened.
