2 brothers in P13.2-M gold bullion heist in Benguet fall in Davao de Oro
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police arrested two brothers who allegedly robbed a mining company in Mankayan, this province, of P13.2 million in gold bullions and killed five employees in 2003 after nine years of hiding in Compostela, Davao de Oro on Friday, April 14.
Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr., Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief, identified the suspects as Danny Domyong Nabulay, 43, and Rimando Domyong, 46, natives of Mankayan.
Nabulay, a Top Most Wanted Person charged with robbery with multiple homicide, was nabbed in Barangay Pantukan.
His brother who also faces the same case was apprehended in Barangay Tagdangua.
Peredo said Nabulay was listed as a Top Most Wanted Person on the national level with a P250,000 reward under the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) or Department of National Defense (DND) Memorandum Circular 2006-28 “Coplan: Yaluban.”
The brothers were arrested by the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU)-Cordillera, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Davao de Oro, and Pantukan Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Peredo said the suspects were tracked down through extensive operation and intelligence gathering by the BPPO.
The Domyongs were among six individuals who allegedly robbed the Lepanto Consolidated Mining Corp. (LCMC) of 21.860 kilograms of gold bullions valued at P13.2 million and two M16 rifles on Sept. 20, 2003.
Suspects shot and killed five LCMC employees escorting the gold.
Some suspects were arrested over the years.
