'The Idol' selected for Cannes Film Festival; BLACKPINK Jennie's appearance undecided
The HBO series “The Idol” has been chosen as an official selection for the 76th Cannes Film Festival, which will run from May 16 to 27.

In the Out of Competition category of Cannes, “The Idol, directed by Sam Levison, was selected along with “Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny” by James Mangold, “Cobweb” by Kim Jee-Woon and “Killers of the Flower Moon” by Martin Scorsese.” “The Idol” will star Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp. Also in the cast are BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef and Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Mike Dean. This is Jennie’s acting debut. She debuted as a member of BLACKPINK in 2016. According to HBO, “‘The Idol,’ set against the backdrop of the music industry, centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.” With the selection of “The Idol” at Cannes, fans are excited to see Jennie attending the event. YG Entertainment said her attendance at Cannes has not been decided. "Jennie's participation in the Cannes Film Festival has not yet been decided," YG Entertainment said, according to Korean media.
