MALVAR, Batangas – An 18-year-old student died and his 19-year-old back rider was injured after a commuter van collided with their motorcycle in Barangay Pioquinto here on Friday evening, April 14.
Police identified the victim as Nathan Aaron Valeros, single, of Barangay Santiago, Santo Tomas City, Batangas.
Investigation showed that the van driven by Robert Capulong, 43, of Barangay Antipolo del Sur, Lipa City, Batangas, accidentally bumped the motorcycle of the victims who were thrown off and landed on a creek.
Valeros sustained injuries and were brought by responders to the Daniel Mercado Medical Hospital in Tanauan City, Batangas where he was declared dead by attending physician Dr. Millennium Fabros.
Dominique Pastor, single, resident of this town, and Valeros’ backrider, was taken to the same hospital and is now in stable condition.
Capulong was arrested and faces a complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injury, and damage to property.
