PNP to open weekend transactions for gun-related permits, other licenses
Starting next month, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be opening its one-stop shop and other satellite offices on Saturday and Sunday for the processing and issuance of firearms-related licenses, permits for security guards and other documents.
Police Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo, Jr., director of the PNP-Civil Security Group (CSG), said they are eyeing the full blast opening of its Camp Crame office in Quezon and other satellite offices usually located at SM malls.

But he said residents of Davao City and nearby areas could already experience it starting April 22.
“We will open our services even during Saturday and Sunday. We are coming up with the plans to do it and by next month, we hope to have a full blast operation,” Silo told the Manila Bulletin in an interview.
“This is part of our efforts to bring the CSG services closer to the people. We understand that some of our kababayan are having difficulty transacting with the CSG since they are working from Monday to Friday, so this is our response to it,” he added.
He said the move is also a way of dealing with fixers whom some of the people would tap due to lack of time amid the absence of weekend transactions when they are usually free from work.
The transactions cover the License To Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF), firearms registration, license for security guards and other transactions related to the Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) and the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO).
At Camp Crame in Quezon City where parking is a big problem for those who have transactions with the CSG, Silo said the Saturday and Sunday operation would be a big relief for them in terms of parking spaces.
“With this, our kababayan will now have enough time for their transactions, especially that this will also cover our satellite offices in malls,” said Silo.
Currently, Silo said they are ironing out all the measures as the move would require proper coordination with other PNP offices.
“We are ironing out all the logistical requirements to make this happen because we really have to coordinate with other offices,” said Silo.
The Saturday and Sunday operation for CSG transactions was announced barely a month after Silo assumed the top post of the CSG, which has supervision over SOSIA and FEO.
