The Marina regional offices in Legazpi City (Region 5) and Davao City (Region 11) served as pilot areas for the “MIDP-PGS-SPMS Cascading Orientation.”
The MIDP-PGS-SPMS refers to Marina Industry Development Plan, Performance Governance System, and Strategic Performance Management System.
The MIDP is a 10-year maritime roadmap developed by the agency which is transformed into a strategy map through the PGS, a management concept that aids the organization to create, execute, and sustain effective development plans.
The strategy map is further cascaded into annual plans and budgets of the agency and individual commitments under the SPMS, a measurement tool which serves to professionalize a mechanism in producing tangible results using outcome-based performance management system among government agencies.
The Marina explained that the MIDP-PGS-SPMS Cascading Orientation seeks to "promote awareness and understanding of MARINA’s plans and programs among regional offices so they can effectively convey the same to their employees."
“The orientation signifies Marina’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of industry programs and strategic directions, thereby, improving the Philippine maritime industry’s competitiveness and sustainability,” the MARINA explained.
Aside from the regional offices in Legazpi City and Davao City, the orientation will also be held in other Marina sites in Iloilo, General Santos City, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Surigao, Batangas, La Union, and National Capital Region (NCR).
