Capiz commemorates 75th death anniversary of President Roxas 


ILOILO CITY – The province of Capiz commemorated on Saturday, April 15, the 75th death anniversary of President Manuel A. Roxas.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held at his monument in Roxas City, the provincial capital named after the country’s fifth president, attended by Vice President Sara-Duterte, former President now Pampanga Rep. Gloria M. Arroyo, Gov. Fredenil Castro, Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, Rep. Emmanuel Billones, Rep. Jane Castro, Vice Gov. James Mitang, and former Sen. and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and family.

Meanwhile, the province’s 122nd founding anniversary kicked off on Saturday with “Capiztahan.”

Capiztahan is a two-week celebration until May 1 featuring 52 different events participated in by non-government organizations and businesses.

Festivities won’t end as Flores de Mayo will start on May 1 which the people of Capiz want to bring back for the younger generation to appreciate.
