Rhenz Abando and the Anyang KGC suffered an 89-75 beating at the hands of the Goyang Carrot Jumpers in Game 2 of their best-of-five semifinals series in the Korean Basketball League Saturday, April 15, at the Anyang Indoor Gymnasium.
The loss, which was a far cry from Anyang’s 56-point drubbing of Goyang in Game 1, tied the series at 1-all. The Filipino import Abando had another quiet outing after going scoreless in three minutes and 49 seconds of play. Tied at 57-all with four minutes left in the third, Lee Jung-hyun drained five straight points as Goyang pulled away 62-57. It proved to be the turning point as Goyang rode on that momentum going to the final quarter where they led by as many as 18 points, 82-66, and never looked back. Lee registered a team-high 32 points including five steals, American import Dedric Lawson chipped in 24 points and 15 rebounds, and Han Ho-bin contributed 11 points for Goyang. Omari Spellman, meanwhile, posted 19 points, six rebounds and three assists in a losing effort for Anyang, while Byun Joon-hyung and Oh Se-geun added 16 and 14 points, respectively.
