CEBU CITY – Eight more barangays here have been declared as drug-cleared areas.
In its recent deliberation, the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) declared Barangays Budlaan, Kamagayan, Punta Princesa, Binaliw, Agsungot, Tabunan, Adlaon, and Kalubihan as drug-cleared areas.
The ROCBDC is composed of officials from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency as chair, Department of Interior and Local Government as vice chair, and Department of Health, Philippine National Police, and local government units as members.
Jonah John Rodriguez, head of the Cebu City Office of the Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP), said the eight barangays were subjected to thorough deliberation before they earned the drug-cleared status.
Rodriguez said that 21 out of the 80 barangays in this city have been declared drug-cleared in the past two years.
Barangays earlier declared drug-cleared were Basak Pardo, Buot Taup, Kinasang-an, Lusaran, San Antonio, Pamutan and Parian, Sudlon 1 and 2, Toong, Santo Niño, Sapangdaku, and Sinsin.
City Anti-Drug Abuse Council chairman Ernest Herrera has announced that barangays declared as drug-cleared will receive P100,000 each as incentive for coming up with a successful anti-illegal drug program.
