A total of 4,100 people joined the "Walk for Humanity" program conducted by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) - Bulacan Chapter on Saturday, April 15.
The march started at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center and reached the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in the City of Malolos, Bulacan.
In line with the theme "PRC is always first, always ready, and always there in service for humanity," the program was launched to adapt and promote the Red Cross 143 programs across all barangays in the province.
The program also encouraged every family to have at least one responder to strengthen the PRC's mission of providing humanitarian aid to those in need.

Being an advocate himself, Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando expressed his support for the cause through a message read by his representative, James Santos, at the event. Fernando also encouraged Bulakenyos to support and promote volunteerism in the province. "Ang ating gobernador ay patuloy na nakikiisa sa mga ganitong aktibidad sa lalawigan ng Bulacan, sa katunayan ay napakahalaga pong yugto ang unity walk para sa inyo sapagkat naipapakita ninyo sa inyong lipunan ang pagkakaisa (Our governor continuously supports these kinds of activities in the province of Bulacan. This unity walk is an important milestone because you are able to show the vision of a unified society)," Santos said. Iana Khrys Godoy, a second year nursing student, joined the walk and enticed the youth to participate and support the PRC's advocacies and programs. "Pumunta po ako dito dahil gusto ko pong sumama sa walk for humanity. Bilang kabataan, tayo ang magsisimula ng pagtulong sa ating kapwa. Itong walk for humanity, hindi lang po ito for clout, nanghihikayat po tayo ng kapwa nating mga Bulakenyo upang matulungan ang bawat isa (I came because I wanted to join the walk for humanity. As part of the youth, we should start supporting our communities. The walk for humanity is not just an acitivty we do to gain clout, but we encourage our fellow Bulakenyos to help each other)," Godoy said. The program was also attended by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Rowena J. Tiongson, Bulacan State University President Cecilia Navasero-Gascon, Congresswoman Lorna C. Silverio, PRC board of directors including Raymundo Carlos, Bartolome Agustin, Annabelle Talusan, Rosalie Lava, Josefina Natividad and Dr. Erwin Tecson and other volunteers.
