The effect of the low pressure area (LPA), which was formerly tropical depression Amang, has weakened on Friday, April 14, but scattered rain showers may still affect Bataan and Zambales in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its latest weather advisory.
As of 10 a.m., the LPA was estimated based on all available data at 120 kilometers west-northwest of Iba, Zambales.
“The effect of the LPA has weakened, but it is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bataan and Zambales,” PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. weather advisory.
“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards,” it warned.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience hot and humid weather with the possibility of isolated afternoon rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant as there could be flooding or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and sometimes hail, often accompany severe thunderstorms.
On Saturday, April 15, PAGASA said that Northern Luzon will experience cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the “southward migration of the frontal system.”
The rest of the country will continue to experience sunny to partly cloudy weather with possible isolated afternoon rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Sunday to Wednesday, April 16 to 19, PAGASA said the eastern part of Luzon will have cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will have sunny and partly cloudy weather and chances of isolated afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the whole archipelago, mostly the eastern part, will have sunny and partly cloudy weather with isolated afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms from Thursday to Friday, April 20 to 21.
