BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Occidental police recorded 65 crime incidents during the Holy Week, three fewer than last year with 68.
Two homicide cases were reported in the cities of Escalante and San Carlos, one murder in Moises Padilla town, one physical injury in Talisay City, a rape in Sagay City, and a robbery in Cadiz City.
Seven cases were solved while five others are under investigation, police said.
Twenty vehicular accidents were reported from April 3 to 9.
Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, attributed the reduction in crime and vehicular accidents to intensified police presence in strategic areas.
Catalogo noted that people are now more aware of safety measures especially when they travel.
