OCTA Research has clarified that Metro Manila or the National Capital Region  remains at low risk classification for Covid-19.

This was in contrast to the group's earlier statement wherein it said that the metropolis in already under moderate risk classification, which is the next highest tier.

“The National Capital Region (NCR) remains at low risk based on our metrics. We did not recommend an escalation of alert levels or lockdown,” OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said.

This developed amid public concern that alert level 2 would get hoisted in the NCR due to report of a rise in local Covid-19 cases.

But OCTA Research said it is "not expecting a big surge" in Covid-19 infections similar to what occurred last January or in August 2021.

Meanwhile, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. thanked China for voting in favor of the Philippines' election to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).

“Thank you, China, for your vote. We have differences, sure; we tried but failed to bridge them, but the endeavor was sincere; we are patriots each of our respective causes, but we have a deep respect and genuine affection for each other,” tweeted Locsin.

In the end, the Philippines won a seat in the CLCS by garnering 113 votes from 164 state parties.
