Jennifer Lopez made fashion history by wearing the green Versace jungle dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. But American supermodel Amber Valletta claimed she wore the jungle outfit first. "This dress I think has been Googled more times than any other look in history – literally broke the Internet when she wore it. Kinda cool to be a part of that history. But I wore it first," said Valletta in reference to the same outfit worn by Lopez, during an interview for Vogue Magazine video "My Life in LOOKS."

Valletta said she posed in it for Versace's 1999 campaign and modeled it at the opening of the label's Spring/Summer 2000 show. Then five months later, Lopez took it to the Grammys. In 2019, Lopez reintroduced the same gown at the closing of the Milan Fashion Week. But Valletta pointed out that she has nothing against Lopez.

According to people.com, Valletta said in an interview for WSJ Magazine in 2021: "I actually never saw any 'who wore it best' between J.Lo and I. I think J.Lo wore it incredibly. It's just an amazing dress that Donatella Versace designed that just has such longevity and is an iconic piece in fashion history. I don't think it's about who wears anything best. I think we're all uniquely beautiful and have individually something to bring." "Powerful women wear powerful dresses," she added.
