4 robbery suspects fall in Butuan; police recover stolen P970,000
BUTUAN CITY – Police apprehended four men who robbed an individual of P970,000 cash in a hot-pursuit operation here on Thursday, April 13.
The Butuan City Police Office Station 4 said the victim was driving his motorcycle after withdrawing money from a bank when his path was blocked by the suspects onboard two single motorcycles around 11 a.m.
The suspects declared a holdup and forcibly took the victim’s backpack cash at gunpoint.
Police launched a manhunt and arrested three suspects who fled onboard a multicab in Barangay Ampayon after an hour. The fourth suspect carrying the stolen money was collared near a creek in Barangay Tiniwisan.
Police temporarily withheld the names of the suspects pending the arrest of their other cohorts.
Recovered from the suspects were the stolen money, two caliber .45 pistols, and ammunition.
Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II cited the BCPO Station 4 for arresting the suspects.
“I commend the swift response of our police personnel as well as the active participation of the citizens which led to the arrest of these robbery suspects,” Labra said.
Labra also attributed their arrest to the effective implementation of the intensified crime prevention strategy “Oplan: Tak-Ob/Babagan.”
The BCPO Station 4 is preparing robbery charges against the suspects.
