Team Secret vows to bounce back after first loss in VCT Pacific League

Although he admitted that the team lacked communication and good reads in the defeat that put the first blemish to their record, DubsteP saw it as an opportunity to improve. “We will do our best to get better,” vowed DubsteP as they continued with the tournament facing up against fellow SEA team RRQ on Saturday, April 15. “Kahit naman nanalo kami tinitry namin mag-improve. Ang hirap nga dyan pag nanalo ka ng nanalo, napupunta sa iyo yung attention ng ibang teams kumbaga nari-read ka rin nila. Ayoko sabihing nari-read kami entirely pero isa iyon sa mga factors kung bakit kami natalo,” he added. Looking back to their first loss after opening the tournament with a pair of 2-1 victories over Talon Esports and Paper Rex, Dubstep said Team Secret felt they were the better team but just couldn’t make counter adjustments to Gen.G’s reads. “We are well prepared, alam namin na kami yung better team (but) eventually they showed something very awesome. They have very good reads sa game namin and I was so surprised because we know Gen.G is a really good team. We kinda lacked some communications and some other situations,” he admitted. Team Secret didn’t exactly perform badly, losing the first map 13-8 before just falling short 13-11 in the second. Bouncing back from such loss will also fall on the shoulder of coach Evan “Warbirds” Olzem who according to Dubstep, has been a very big impact to the team. “Maraming impact kasi yung mga pagdating sa discipline, sa picking, yung mga fundamentals talagang natutulungan niya kami dun lalo na kapag about sa technicality, how to play valorant as a team malaki ang tulong nya sa aspect na iyon,” he added.
