The number of new Covid-19 cases in the country is on a decline, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
“We're seeing that our cases are plateauing in Mindanao. Our cases in the Visayas are slowly decreasing already although nagka-uptick tayo (there is an uptick) in the past days,” said DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire in a press briefing on Friday, Nov. 11.
“And here in the NCR and the Luzon areas, tuloy-tuloy na ang pagbaba ng mga kaso (the cases are continuously decreasing),” she added.
Vergeire also backed the statement of infectious disease expert Dr. Rontgene Solante that the wave of Covid-19 cases brought about by Omicron subvariants BA.5 and BA.4 is now over in Metro Manila.
“Based doon sa (on the) statement ni (of) Dr. Solante, gusto natin klaruhin (we want to clarify that). I think he's talking about yung pagtaas ng kaso (the increase in cases) because of the Omicron infection in these past months that happened,” said Vergeire.
“I think we started off in June, July, August, kung saan tumataas yung mga kaso at sa tingin natin pababa na 'yung mga kaso kaya sinasabi ni Dr. Solante (wherein cases were on the rise and we think that cases are going down that's why Dr. Solante said that), we are past that surge,” she added.
