Operatives from the Pasig City Police Station (CPS) arrested two male suspects allegedly involved in a carnapping incident during a follow-up operation in Taytay, Rizal on Wednesday, April 12.
Based on the report sent to Pasig CPS Chief Col. Celerino Sacro, the suspects were identified as “Angelo,” 47, and “Jake,” 25; both from Cainta, Rizal.
Initial investigation showed that a 31-year-old male driver filed a complaint with the Manggahan Police Sub-Station 8 in Pasig City at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11. He claimed that his Honda Beat motorcycle, which was parked in front of his house in Barangay Manggahan, was stolen.
Police from Sub-Station 8 and the Anti-Carnapping Unit of the Pasig CPS conducted a joint follow-up operation that led to the arrest of the suspects.
They were arrested in Purok 8, Bagong Pag Asa, Westbank Road, Barangay Santa Ana in Taytay, Rizal on April 12.
Police found and confiscated the stolen yellow and black-colored Honda Beat motorcycle of the victim, as well as a red and black-colored Honda Dash motorcycle.
The Honda Dash motorcycle, which was discovered to be registered under the name of a man identified as “Bienvenido,” was used by the suspects as their getaway vehicle, police said.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the Pasig police.
They are facing charges for violations of Republic Act No. 10883 or the “New Anti-Carnapping Law of 2016.”
