Over 3,000 residents undergo free chest x-ray in Caloocan
The Caloocan City government said on Thursday, April 13, that a total of 3,052 residents underwent the free chest x-ray examination under the city's National Tuberculosis Program.
It said the free chest x-ray program started last March 7 in line with the celebration of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24.
According to Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan, City Health Department (CHD) will continue to provide free chest x-ray, consultations, and treatment for the residents to eradicate tuberculosis and other communicable diseases in Caloocan.
“Tuloy-tuloy po ang pag-iikot ng ating mobile clinic sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng ating lungsod upang maghandog ng libreng chest x-ray sa ating mga residente. Ang programang ito’y malaking bahagi ng pangangalaga sa kalusugan ng ating komunidad (Our mobile clinic continues to travel in different parts of our city to offer free chest x-rays to our residents. This program is a big part of our community's health care),” the mayor said.
Malapitan advised the barangay chairpersons to encourage the communities to seek help from the nearest health center once they experience signs and symptoms of tuberculosis.
Meanwhile, CHD Officer-in-charge Dr. Evelyn Cuevas said that CHD health workers with the city's mobile health clinic visited different barangays to conduct the free medical service.
“Sa kabuuang 3,052 residenteng ating sinuri, napagalaman po natin na 336 sa kanila ay hinihinalang nakararanas ng mga sintomas, samantala 312 naman ang sumailalim sa genexpert test upang malaman po natin kung sila ay may tuberculosis (Out of a total of 3,052 residents that we examined, we found out that 336 of them are experiencing symptoms, while 312 underwent the genexpert test to find out if they have tuberculosis),” Cuevas said.
The CHD also held a tuberculosis (TB) awareness session which was attended by city residents, TB patients, health center staff, and barangay employees.
