BACOLOD CITY – A carpenter was gunned down by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels at his residence in Sitio Mag-ubay, Barangay Mani-ak, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday, April 11.

The victim was identified as Armando Babor, 33. Based on the initial investigation, the victim was having breakfast when three unidentified armed persons arrived and shot him in the head and left arm. Police recovered from the crime scene three fired bullets of caliber 5.56mm. The gunmen were reportedly wearing caps and jackets. They fled towards the mountainous part of Barangay Calupaan. Police Lt. Col. Kym Lopez, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental police, said that investigation is ongoing to check the background of the victim.
