BACOLOD CITY – The death of a carpenter was the latest insurgency-related incident reported in Negros Island.
The Leonardo Panaligan Command (LPC) of the New People’s Army’s Central Negros Guerrilla Front has claimed the death of 33-year-old Armando Babor in Barangay Mani-ak, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday, April 11.
In a statement dated April 12, Ka JB Regalado, LPC-NPA spokesperson, said that Babor was a legitimate military target of the NPA, after he allegedly continued his actions against the revolutionary movement, despite being warned in 2021 and 2022.
Regalado said that Babor allegedly presented himself as an NPA rebel and surrendered to the military in 2018 to act as its intelligence asset.
Babor was having breakfast at their house, when three unidentified armed persons arrived and shot him, based on a police investigation.
On April 9, the LPC-NPA also owned up the killing of 63-year-old Danilo Bedaja in Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, as he was being complained for alleged theft and land-grabbing.
