A pro-health congressman is asking the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to ensure a steady supply of electricity this summer, if only to keep hospitals running smoothly.
“We urge the NGCP to make sure that we have adequate power supply all throughout the summer season when demand is at its highest," Anakalusugan Party-list Rep. Ray Reyes said in a statement Thursday, April 13.
"Hospital patients' lives are on the line and we need to ensure that the quality of operations in our medical facilities will not be affected," stressed Reyes, who is a neophyte solon in the 19th Congress.
Earlier, the NGCP warned of possible intermittent power interruptions during these summer months.
Reyes said the NGCP must uphold its responsibility of providing adequate power supply in order to ensure the quality of operations in health facilities.
Reyes is a vice chairman of the House Committee on Health.
