5 towns in Bohol receive brand-new ambulances

CEBU CITY – Five towns in Bohol province received brand-new ambulances from the Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH-7). DOH-7 Director Jaime Bernadas Jr. led the turnover of the ambulances on Wednesday, April 12, at the Governor's Mansion in Tagbilaran City.

Recipients of the ambulances were the local government units of Loboc, Pilar, Sagbayan, San Miguel, and Ubay. Each worth P2.5 million, these ambulances are equipped with medical paraphernalia and life-saving equipment for emergency responses. Bernadas said the donation of the ambulances is part of the DOH's Health Facilities Enhancement Program which aims to strengthen the country's medical system and make it more accessible to Filipinos. He said municipalities must comply with the agency's guidelines to ensure functional services of the ambulance such as vehicle registration, licensing, up-to-date maintenance, and maximizing its use to enhance medical services of health units. Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado and the mayors of the five recipient towns attended the turnover ceremony. Aumentado said the donation was made possible also through the efforts of Sen. Sonny Angara. “We want to thank Sen.  Angara and the DOH because these ambulances are  a big help especially to far-flung towns. This will help improve the recipients LGUs’ delivery of medical services to their constituents,” said Aumentado.
