Razon-led Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. has partnered with Chinese firm PowerChina B7 Philippines Corp. (PowerChina) for the commercial development of its 140-megawatt solar farm project in Tanauan, Batangas and Marogondon, Cavite. That project serves as an expansion of  the 100MW solar facility that Prime Infra had acquired from Solar Philippines, a company founded by young businessman Leandro Leviste. In a statement to the media, the Razon firm announced that the groundbreaking for the project was held Tuesday, April 11 with targeted completion by end this year. Solar Tanauan Corporation Chair Katrina Razon said that given the company’s ESG (environmental, social and governance) commitment, “our goal is to develop and operate our assets in a socially relevant manner.” Echoing a "regenerative future" that was first trumpeted by another conglomerate, she emphasized that their solar farm project is “a reminder of the importance of collaborating together towards a common goal, a shared vision and how collective efforts can make a transformative difference,” adding that the implementation kick-off of their venture will hopefully “inspire many to take action towards a regenerative future.” Upon its completion, the solar power facility will yield annual power generation of 202 gigawatt-hours that would provide electricity to 84,000 households and displacing over 100,000 tons of carbon emissions. Being one of the host communities of the facility, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla asserted that “we are preparing for a future-proof province here in Cavite and together, we will grow; together, we will prosper.” Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas conveyed that Tanauan, being the other site of the project, “is one of our most progressive cities where we have a lot of industrial estates and fortunately now, we are going to have renewable energy coming from the group of Prime Infra.” The Razon group has been pursuing massive renewable energy (RE) projects, not just in the solar development space, but also for hydropower investments. As noted by Prime Infra President and CEO Guillaume Lucci, their company “continues to address the need for dependable power supply as it aggressively supports the transition to clean energy and a low-carbon economy through our portfolio of renewable energy projects.” For his part, Yang Guoliang, minister counsellor of the People’s Republic of China, stated that “the development of photovoltaic projects not only alleviate the shortage of electricity consumption, optimize the energy structure, but also promote the employment of residents and improve people's livelihood and well-being.”
