Rains persist over parts of Bicol, S. Luzon, C. Luzon due to 'Amang'
Tropical depression Amang may continue to bring rains and strong winds to some parts of Bicol, Southern Luzon, and Central Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday morning, April 13.
PAGASA warned against possible flooding or landslides as Amang may bring moderate to occasional intense rains over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Aurora in the next 24 hours.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may also affect Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, the rest of Central Luzon, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and Marinduque.
Due to continuous strong winds brought by Amang, tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 remains hoisted over tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 remains hoisted over the northern and western portions of Camarines Norte, southern portion of Aurora, and the northern and eastern portions of Quezon including Polillo Islands.

“Areas under Wind Signal No. 1 may experience strong winds—strong breeze to near gale strength—associated with the tropical depression, which may cause minimal to minor impacts to life and property,” PAGASA warned. As of 7 a.m., the center of Amang was over the coastal waters of Jomalig, Quezon.
It maintained its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving west-northwestward at 10 kph. PAGASA said Amang may weaken into a low pressure area in the next 12 hours as it traverses Polillo Islands and the northern part of mainland Quezon.
