CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera said the observance of the Holy Week in the region was relatively peaceful.
PRO-Cordillera chief Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr. said no major security-related incidents were reported and only one drowning incident in Kalinga and 26 vehicular traffic accidents region-wide were recorded.
Peredo attributed this to their effective security deployment plan.
He said aside from the regular deployment of personnel, 1,120 police officers tapped to secure major thoroughfares, transportation hubs, and places of convergence before the Holy Week started.
They were backed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other
volunteers.
Peredo thanked the people for their cooperation on the heightened security measures laid down by the Cordillera police.
He cited security personnel and volunteers for patiently performing their duties to secure the safety of the people.
